The Vega Sicilia Unico 2000 is a rich crimson wine with an ethereal aroma assisted by its extended aging. The aromas of Asian spices, lavender, incense, truffle, and black fruit confiture are all enticing. It’s sweet, upfront, rich, and hedonistic, yet it’s got the balance and structure to last another 5-10 years. Vega Sicilia drinks well at 50 in strong vintages, and I predict the same of the 2000.
