The Pavie 1985 has a tawny rim and a rich, slightly hazy mahogany colour. Mulberry, sloe, kirsch, and smoke dominate the aroma, which is elevated with luscious, slightly honeyed fruit. The palate is medium-bodied, with good fruit concentration and classic vintage characteristics. Well-balanced, albeit a little rustic and bretty at times, but with remarkable persistence on the finish. That’s excellent.
