Reseña profesional
Château Montus is one of South-West France’s most prestigious wine producers. It became an integral part of Alain Brumont’s portfolio of Madiran properties in 1980, and the top wine, the single-vineyard La Tyre, has become one of the AOC’s most iconic wines.
Brumont had inherited the Château Bouscassé property from his father in 1979 and, just a year later, purchased Montus so he could explore his own vision for Madiran. He released his first vintage of Montus in 1982, and the first vintage of the Cuvée Prestige in 1985, although the wines were illegal under the AOC laws because the vines were too young. La Tyre became Madiran’s first single-vineyard cuvée and has enjoyed considerable success.
The property is located near the foot of the Pyrenees and the vineyards are shot through with large red pebbles. La Tyre and the Cuvée Prestige are made in this terroir, along with several other wines, including an unusual sweet Tannat and a oak-aged Pacherenc du Vic-Bilh Sec
