Reseña profesional
Good climatic conditions at budburst, regular rainfall in spring, then quite a rainy August meant that 1995 could have been a difficult vintage. However, one of the greatest Septembers gave Sangiovese excellent conditions in which to mature. The Col d’Orcia Poggio Al Vento Riserva 1995 has tertiary aromas of prunes, tar and chocolate that dominate the cherry fruit, while cranberry and peanut flavours flow over the palate with grainy, still-youthful tannins and crisp, melted acidity. The finish is a bit austere and slightly bitter without compromising the overall balance of this classic Poggio al Vento.
