Cantemerle 1990: What a fantastic showing. In a perfect spot of maturity now with the red and black fruited flavours still quite fresh, but now matched by layers of mature tobacco, earth, mushroom, and a whiff of leathery/slightly barnyardy Cordier funk that’s just enough to add complexity without overwhelming or distracting from the other flavours. The texture is fantastic – it’s medium weight and silken on the palate, and the tannin here feels fully resolved. Drinking wonderfully right now.
